When relationships begin to take a turn, working with an objective professional offers new perspectives. Working together, we will help to identify challenges and seek mutually satisfactory solutions.
In Couple’s Therapy, you will learn new tools and practices so they become valuable assets for helping your relationship flourish and grow. Many different types of therapies will be offered and explored including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gottman Relationship Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Attachment Theory. Through these methodologies you will learn to build your friendship and achieve greater intimacy.
I studied Neurobiology Couples Therapy with Dr. Stan Tatkin, the renowned author of Wired for Love and obtained a post-masters degree. With these skills, I help couples understand how the brain works and affects relationships. By understanding that the brain controls how we react, couples can learn to stop blaming themselves for problems in their relationships and replace shame and reactivity with compassion and kindness. They learn ways to self-calm and stay connected. Couples begin to prevent and help defuse conflict and build secure and loving relationships.
Gottman Couples Therapy
The Gottman method is a model for working with couples developed after 40 years of research. Using this technique, I work with couples in ways that help unblock barriers that have prevented intimacy, friendship and communication. In the Gottman method couples training, I use scientifically-based techniques to teach couples the skills to build relationships that promote optimism. These exercises help each partner nurture understanding for one another. Couples learn conflict management and communication skills that build trust. This method helps couples remain together in greater happiness and harmony. I have completed Gottman Level III training.
